DescriptionGCSE English Language coursework.
A discursive essay discussing whether or not the judiciary should be elected by popular public vote.
...The supporters of such a change claim that, without a system where the judges are elected, only older, more experienced judges will continue to be placed on the bench. Younger judges may not even be considered by the electoral committee, as they are obviously less experienced. Without a system in which the public votes, this experience will be all but unattainable. The public would not only look at the experience of judges, but also their ability to judge fairly, regardless of how long they have been doing it for. What's more, as law schools are selective and involve lengthy courses, judges are sometimes so isolated from the general public that they seem out of touch with public opinions. Elections would mean exposure to public concerns.
