ABSTRACT
Communication is an essential part of our life that plays a great role to create a daily contact between the members of society. We communicate with different people from different culture and backgrounds at different time, place and way. Communication is a process that involves exchange of information, thoughts, ideas, opinions and symbols. According to Camp& Satterwhite (2002), the message being been sent or received may be verbal and non-verbal and uses different channels such as written, oral, visual and electronics techniques of communication.


INTRODUCTION

Technology is one of the most important elements that make communication easy and quick.In 21st century it represented on increasingly popular form of communication among the new generation that is Short Message System (SMS).SMS is an example of written communication using electronics techniques.SMS can be edited and amended many times before it is communicated to the second party to whom the communication is intended.
SMS a new kind of communication seems to be much practical because people started using SMS message in each time and everywhere. One wonders, why people are interested in this kind of communication though it seems more difficult than is of calling somebody.
Many people are apprehensive of the SMS register. They think that electronics techniques of communication like SMS is corrupting our national language(Bahasa Melayu) and also other languages through abbreviation, newly created words, code mixing and emoticons or symbols. Furthermore, when reading SMS, it seems that this language is so difficult but it is still been used. How come s that people could easily adapt their communication to this type of communication?

METHOD
A small scale on this issue had been conduct by distribute the survey questionnaire to 30 people who use SMS.

i) Participants
The small scale study had been conduct at the one of the Private Medical University in Kedah. They were 30 participants in this reach study, where 15 of them were students and another 15 was lectures.
