BIOLOGY LABORATORY REPORT
THE EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE ON PERMEABILITY OF CELL MEMBRANE
ABSTRACT
The aim of this experiment is to find out what is teh effect of temperature to the cell membrane of beetroot. Manipulated variable of this experiment is the temperature of water barah and the responding variable is the reading of spectrophotometer. And, the control variable of this experiment is the time that boiling tube is left in the water bath. The first method for this experiment is experiment is, we place all the beetroot cutting into 6 diferrent temperature of water bath. Then all the water dye that is collected and the light intensity absorbance is tested using spectrophotometer. After finishing the experiment, we can conclude that, An increase in temperature will damage the membrane structure and denature the plasma proteins causing substances contained within the membrane to leak out, hence increasing the permeability of the cell membrane.
OBJECTIVE
To see mitosis in action in cell of the root tips.
INTRODUCTION
My aim in doing this experiment is to find out what is going on actually in the cell. As we all know, cell is very crutial in every living thing. So, it is very useful if we can find out and see what is happening in our own cell. But, to prepare this experiment, I will not use human cell because it is quite hard and not so reliable. So, to conduct this experiment I use the root tip of Garlic bulb. This is because, at this stage, the root tips of the Garlic grow very fast and every stage in the mitosis can be clearly seen.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Is differences in every phase of mitotic division can be seen clearly under light microscope?
HYPOTHESIS
The phases of the mitotic divison in the cell can be seen clearly in the root tip of garlic cell under the light microscope.
VARIABLE
MANIPULATED : Different temperature of water bath.
RESPONDING : Permeability of cell membrane – absorbance of light transmission.
CONTROLLED : Length, diameter and surface area of the beetroot cylinders,
