Some Christians totally agree with the Church’s teachings, they see that the foetus is a life right from the moment of conception, that it is a precious gift from god, that it has a right to live and only god has the right to take away its life. However, Some Catholics do not totally agree with these teachings, many factors of modern day lifestyle have influenced this.

Firstly, we now live in a secular society, where the church has less of an influence on people’s thoughts than it did 50 years ago. People pay more attention to the media now, rather than their parish priest. The media gives the message that abortion is acceptable, adverts for abortion clinics can be found is newspapers and magazines, also TV programs and soaps show that abortion can be an easy solution to an unwanted pregnancy.

The rise in feminism, has given women rights, and also a voice to say “its my body, its my choice”.
