However, this means that Turkey is losing its best skilled people. This is because it is often the highly skilled, young people that move. As a result, only the old and very young are left behind. Losing its best skilled people is a disadvantage for Turkey. Furthermore, there will be a decline in farming and services as a result of the emigration of these highly skilled young people. The birth rate in rural areas will also decrease; this affects the demography and can cause an ageing population. The government will have to introduce measures soon to deal with its changing population, or it could end up in an ageing population crisis such as that of Africa and China.
There are plenty of advantages to Germany of the immigration of Turkish guest workers. Firstly, they are a cheap source of labour and do the jobs that many Germans would not like to do. These are mainly dirty, seasonal and monotonous e.g. unskilled work such as in factories.
